Altagracia G. Tejera (Mamá) 96, of Hartford, CT beloved wife of the late Luis Tejera passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital. Altagracia was born in Santo Domingo, D.R. and was the daughter of the late Julian and Candelaria (Nanez) Peguero. Mamá was a beloved wife, mother, sister grandmother, and great grandmother. Family meant everything to her and she enjoyed cooking, shopping, going to the casino, and traveling.
Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she hosted her family yearly, spending time with her family was the most important thing to her. She also enjoyed flowers and her house was always filled with fresh flowers. She had a smile and laugh that were contagious and she lit up any room she was in, her presence will be greatly missed.

Mamá is survived by her ten children, Luisa Tejera, Teresa Laureano and husband Antonio Laureano, Nancy Perez and husband Miguel Flores, Nurys Tejera and husband Luis Gonzalez, Tania Tejera and husband Jose Collazo, Miriam Vélez and husband Hiram Velez, Xiomara Tejera and husband Franklin Cueto, Jose Luis Tejera and wife Yolanda Vargas, Lissette Román and husband Celio Román, Chissel Rivera and husband Juan Rivera. She is also survived by her sister Josefa Peguero. She leaves behind 25 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. Mamá was predeceased by her husband Luis A. Tejera, her sisters Lourdes and Carmita, and her brother Bienvenido.

Relatives and friends may call at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke., Wethersfield, CT Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  A Mass will be held Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford, CT.  Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
