Obituary

Toni Maffucci Krantz, formerly of Hartford & West Hartford, passed away peacefully on October 26th at the age of 92. Toni, the family matriarch, was loved and admired by her large family and her many friends. Toni was known for instilling the importance of family tradition. She began and ended each day in prayer. Sunday dinners took place at her large lace-covered table adorned with simple foods made into Italian specialties -- keeping her family at the table for hours. The aromas of Grandma Toni's meatballs lead her grandchildren to the kitchen to learn the family tradition of meatballs - there was no written recipe. Conversation around the dinner table consisted of Toni sharing stories of her family life as a young girl, her career as an accountant, talk of her dear friends, her fabulous golf group, her wonderful growing family and…the stock market. Toni graduated from Buckeley High School in 1942 and next to her picture it read: "Toni" poised, generous and thoughtful. All good things come in small packages." Toni will live on in many hearts forever. She is survived by one sister, Lucy Hope and her husband Joseph of Newington, and one brother Bill Maffucci of South Windsor, her two daughters-in-law, Patricia "Tish" Meade of New Britain, and Betsy Krantz, of Portland, ME, six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sons Howard Krantz and William Krantz, her two sisters Carmel Fiorentino and Rosemary DeMuth and a brother, Pasquale "Pat" Maffucci. The funeral will be Saturday , October 29th, 2016, 11:15 a.m. from the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home 1276 Berlin Tpke., Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 12 p.m. (Noon) at Holy Trinity Church, 53 Capitol Ave., Hartford, with the Rev. Charles E. Jacobs officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home today, Friday, October 28th, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Holy Trinity Church.
