Arthur R. Bruce, a kind and gentle man, left us November 21st. Arthur had devoted his life to his family, especially his boys, his church, and the youth of Wethersfield as a soccer coach and as an active scout leader for 44 years. In recognition of his civic involvement he was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award from BSA in 1993 and The Wethersfield Schools Parent Council Award in 2006. Nothing made him happier than being in his garden. In retirement he earned a degree in horticulture and later worked at a garden center as well as being the gardener of the Keeney Cultural Center for 10 years. He leaves his wife, Carol (Rice) Bruce, and his son Tim Bruce and his wife Sue. He was predeceased by his son Todd. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Jefferson House for the compassionate care given to Arthur and his family. The funeral will be 11:00 AM, on Monday, November 27 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 371 Wolcott Hill Rd, Wethersfield. Friends may call 5:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, November 26, at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield.
