Obituary

Bruce M. Gorman, 69, of Wethersfield passed peacefully Saturday night, September 5, 2020 at home, with his daughter Lucy and son-in-law Zachary by his side. Originally from Wethersfield, the fourth out of 7 siblings, growing up on Middletown Avenue. He loved to tell stories and reminisce about growing up down by the "swamp" in his childhood backyard. Things came full circle for him when his daughter and her husband bought a home in Wethersfield, whose backyard also shares the same "swamp" from his childhood memories.

Bruce was an incredibly talented self taught guitar picker, passionate about the blues and folk music, he could be found from time to time at open mic night and a local church on Prospect St. where he shared some of his favorite tunes with those who would listen. He spent much of his time perfecting his craft right in his living room, and sharing his passion with his family and close friends, during holidays and family get togethers. Many in town will remember him as "Mr. Bruce" the bus driver. Bruce drove a school bus for the past 15 years for Double A, Durham School Services and most recently Autumn Transportation, and became a trusted favorite among the kids and families in Wethersfield.

He is predeceased by both parents Mae Elizabeth (Bette) Gorman, and William Gorman, Sr.; 2 older brothers Billy Gorman, and Drew Gorman; a nephew Cody Gorman; and several close friends.

Bruce leaves behind his daughter Lucy, son-in-law Zachary, and beloved grandson Austin Boykin; sisters Elizabeth "Buffy" Taylor and Jody Gorman; Brothers Brant and Jackie Gorman; nieces Remy Taylor, Krystin Gorman, and Allyson Smith; Nephews Drew Taylor and his wife Melissa, and Jake Gorman; great nephews Alex Darcy, DrewMax and Ethan Taylor; and many dear friends from CT. to Southern Ca.

On Sat. September 19, 2020 an open calling hour will be held at LifeWay Church at 2172 Berlin Turnpike Newington at 10am-11. Service will begin at 11am.
