Calvert Lawrence
Green, Iv
Feb 26, 1968 — Feb 9, 2025
Farmington
Calvert Lawrence Green IV, known to all as Larry, of Farmington, Connecticut passed away on February 9, 2025 at the age of 56 from complications of a three year battle with brain cancer (Glioblastoma).
Larry was born on February 26, 1968 in Waterbury, CT. He grew up in Canton, CT and graduated from Westminster School in 1986. Larry attended The University of Vermont where he received a B.S. in Business Administration-Investment Finance in 1991. He earned his CFA in 1997. Larry married his highschool sweetheart and love of his life, Maria Paleologos Green, in 1994. They began their family in Norwalk, CT and moved to Farmington, CT in 2004. Larry and Maria raised a beautiful family together and were by each other's side until the very end.
Larry was adventurous, a fan of both skydiving and ultra hot chili peppers, which he lovingly grew in his garden and made into his famous hot sauces. He was competitive, a serious mogul skier, obsessive golfer, dominant paddle tennis player, and noted darts aficionado. His love of sports also extended to his favorite teams, The UConn Huskies, The New England Patriots, and later on, The Ohio State Buckeyes. Larry was a passionate and decorated baseball coach in the Farmington Youth Baseball League, devoted not only to winning championships, but inspiring his players, and seeing the hidden potential in all of them. He loved music. He was a huge fan of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Dave Matthews Band, and most importantly The Grateful Dead.
Larry lived by the "do it yourself" attitude, constantly mastering new skills. Nowhere is this more evident than the founding of his company, SmartMarketData, in 2013. As an experienced Financial Analyst, he saw an opportunity in the market, taught himself to write code, and developed a now nearly ubiquitous data set in the financial industry, largely by himself.
Above all else, Larry loved his family and friends. He was dedicated to being the best husband and father he could be, and maintained close friendships from every stage of his life. The unbelievable outpouring of support in his final years is truly a testament to how much he loved, and was loved, in his life.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Maria Paleologos Green; his beloved children, Calvert Lawrence Green V, Benjamin James Green and his wife Cara Galske Green, and Anna Elizabeth Green. He is also survived by his devoted parents, Jane and James Bransfield, and Calvert Lawrence Green III, as well as his mother-in-law, Dorothy Paleologos.
His family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Neuro-Oncology team at the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at Hartford Hospital for their unwavering dedication and compassionate care throughout his treatment.
A ceremony will be held in his honor at the Westminster School, Andrew's Memorial Chapel, 995 Hopmeadow St, Simsbury, CT on Wednesday, February 19 at 2:00 pm, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Move4Heather , a charity that became dear to his heart during his battle, supporting research and treatment for this rare form of cancer.
