Catherine Godfrey Berckman of West Hartford, formerly of Hartford, passed away on Sept, 1, 2017. She was born on October 11, 1929 in Hartford, CT the first child of the late Fred and Mary Godfrey Berckman. She was called Kate, and she lived at home with her family all her life. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies of LaSalette, and a lifetime communicant of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Hartford. Kate worked as a dietary aide at St. Francis Hospital for 45 years. She had many opportunities to travel, including visiting Co. Mayo, Ireland, the place where her mother was born, Disney World and many vacations on the CT shore. She was pre-deceased by her sisters, Fredrica Berckman Walsh, and her husband Tom Walsh, Eileen Berckman Lineen, and her husband John, and by her brother Frederick Berckman. She was the amazing Auntie Katie to 8 nieces and nephews, Eileen Lineen Sampl and her husband Dick, Mary Lineen Gibbs and her husband Steven, Theresa Lineen Groat, Frederica Lineen, Thomas Lineen, Teresa Walsh Dorsey and her husband Ray, Colleen Walsh Cunningham, and her husband Tim, and Thomas Walsh Jr. and his wife Darcy, as well as many great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her cousins Kathleen Godfrey Hollman and Peggy Godfrey Egan as well as close friends Mary Lineen O'Connor and Helen Klitsch. She was a uniquely funny lady, she lived a full, happy life and will be greatly miss by all who knew her and loved her. The funeral will be Thursday, September 7, 2017, 9 AM from the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home 1276 Berlin Tpke. Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 79 New Park Ave. Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery.
