Connie A. Bitterman, 90, died peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late James Bitterman and will now join him in Heaven. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Sebastian and Lucia (Pirrotta) Giglio. She grew up and lived in Hartford, Newington, and Wethersfield. Prior to her retirement, Connie worked at Travelers Insurance Company. Connie is survived by her two sons, James S. Bitterman of Wethersfield, and Michael A. Bitterman and his wife Cathy of East Hartford; her daughter Betty B. Ficacelli and her husband Daniel of Newington; her beloved grandchildren, Dr. Amanda M. Ficacelli of New York City and Joseph J. Ficacelli of Wethersfield, and her great-granddaughter Adrianna with whom she loved with all her heart. She will be remembered as a caring wife, mother, grandmother and doting great-grandmother, lovingly known as Mema. We all looked forward to the most delicious pasta dinners on Sundays that she made for her family. She enjoyed travelling, playing cards, her many trips to the casinos and playing Bingo. She always had so much fun when she was with her friends and family. She was the life of the party! Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 9, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 53 Capitol Avenue, Hartford. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to: Alzheimer's Association of CT, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
