David L. Fortin, 63, of West Hartford Connecticut died Friday December 9, 2011. David was born on July 27, 1948 in Salem, Massachusetts, son of the late Laurent and Bronya Fortin. Following high school, David enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam as an artillery officer. After Vietnam, David graduated from the University of Connecticut and was employed in the insurance industry in many capacities with the Hartford Insurance Group. He served as Director of Personnel Life Operations and Director of Administration, Life Special Sales. Later
is his career, he worked as a recruiter, opening his own company, D. Fortin Associates. David is survived by his wife of 41 years Mary Ann (Alquist) Fortin of West Hartford, CT; his two sons, Jason and Jonathan; his daughter-in-law Stephanie; his grandson Tucker; his brother John
Fortin of Newington, CT; his brother Larry of Charlestown, RI; and his sister Marie Gilman of Westerly, RI. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humor, his passion for woodworking, and most importantly, his love and dedication to his family. Visiting hours will be Friday, December 16, 2011, 4-6 p.m. at The Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke. Wethersfield. Burial with full military honors will be held Friday, December 30, 2011, 1:30 p.m. in the State Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Bow Lane, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory may be made to the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center Fund, 80 Fisher Drive, Avon, CT 06001.
