David da Costa Dos Santos, 97, of West Hartford, CT passed away peacefully in the care and presence of family on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024. Born on November 1st, All Saints Day, in 1926 in Fernão Joanes, Guarda, Portugal. He is the oldest male to have ever lived from that region. He immigrated to the United States in Hartford, CT in his late 40's with his family, and they lived there for many years before moving to the suburbs with his wife. A faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima, who helped with the collection baskets and offertories, and a member of The Hartford Portuguese Club. He was a shepherd as a young boy, a farmer most of his adult life, and later worked and retired from Aetna. His passion was gardening and spending the day outdoors, and had a talent for singing folk songs, reciting anecdotes and poems. He will be remembered most for his smile, endless humor, his love for wine, dessert and hats. His pride and joy was family, especially his nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Always the family man, he leaves his beloved wife of 66 years Maria Dos Anjos da Cunha Neto; daughter Maria Fernanda; sons Antonio, Eduardo and Manuel; daughter in-laws Cathy, Cristina and Maryann; grandchildren Monica, Sandra, Michelle, Alyssa, Alexander, Ashley, Amanda, Olivia and Simon; great grandchildren Luca, Giuliana and Avery; niece Graça; nephew Antonio. He was predeceased by his parents Antonio da Costa Dos Santos and Maria Dos Anjos Pinto, brothers Americo and Eduardo, his beloved nephew Abel, and son in-law Jose Maria. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral service for David will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 11 am Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Kane St., Hartford, CT. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke., Wethersfield, CT. Thursday, from 9 am to 10:30 am.
