Despina Koufou Kalaijakis, 87 years old passed away on March 13, 2022. Despina was born on November 7, 1934 to George Koufou and Demitria Tsakiri in Gennadi, Rhodes Greece and immigrated to the United States in 1953 living in Wethersfield for many years.

She is survived by her three sisters Maria, Chrysanthi and Vasilia, her three children, Anastasia Kamais, George Kamais and wife Althea, Anthony Kalaijakis and wife Julie, and grandchildren Jeremiah and wife Renee, Annie, Anastasia, Kristina, Demitria, Zoe, Marissa and her husband Michael, and her two great grandchildren Maverick and Christopher. She was predeceased by her husbands Phillip Kamais and John Kalaijakis as well as her daughter Demitria Kamais.

She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Hartford and very active in church activities and in the Philoptochos.

An hour of visitation will be held March 21, 2022, 10:30 am at the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, followed by the church service at 11:30. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
