Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister Dori Goyzueta passed away peacefully on July 17 during the hour of Divine Mercy, 3:30 PM, surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Lima, Peru, by her devoted parents, and grew up with her dearest sisters and brother. Her beloved mom was invaluable in imparting to her the teachings of the Catholic Church. In Lima, she met and married her lifetime sweetheart and the five children they created became her world. She committed herself totally to loving them unconditionally, and, in turn, they loved her with all their hearts. She traveled with her family to the United States, where she witnessed the blossoming of twelve grandchildren, who adored her and filled her picture frames across the house. Most importantly, she truly lived her life as a blessed woman and a model of virtue for her family. God gave Dori the gift of charity, love, and service, towards not only her children and grandchildren and their families, but also towards her mother, siblings, nephews, nieces and their families, and even towards those outside of the family, including friends and strangers. She made a point of providing food and drink every day to a disabled homeless man who lived on her street, and she delivered clothing regularly for the poor. Families and friends knew they could count on Dori if they needed a shoulder to lean on or a word of wisdom. When Dori hosted visitors at home, she nurtured them with kind words and fantastic Peruvian food that she loved to prepare daily, particularly on Saturdays, Sundays, and holy days. She passed on to all of her children and grandchildren this taste for the fine food of Lima along with an abiding love of music and dance. Dori would sing along to both classical music and contemporary music without skipping a beat or missing a note. She valued the works of Tchaikovsky and Mozart alongside Peruvian valses, polkas, and marineras and Argentinian tangos and milongas. She will also be remembered for her fondness of the Peruvian National Soccer Team alongside the UConn basketball team, her fascination with poetry, her impeccable sense of fashion, and for being the life of the party everywhere she went.
In her final days before being taken by the Lord, she was a daily communicant. She is undoubtedly eternally blissful in Heaven, watching over her family.
