Eileen V. (Berckman) Lineen, age 83, of West Hartford, passed away October 17, 2015. Born on September 23, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary (Godfrey) Berckman, and the widow of John Lineen, who she married in 1953. Eileen was raised and spent most of her adult life in Hartford, until moving to West Hartford in the 1990s. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and loved listening and dancing to Irish music. Eileen was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Fredrica and Tom Walsh and her brother Frederick Berckmann. She is survived by her 5 children Eileen Sampl and her husband Richard of Meriden, Mary Gibbs and her husband Stephen of Farmington, Theresa Grover of Meriden, Frederica Lineen and her fiancé Tony Mazzotta of Hardy, Virginia, and Thomas Lineen of West Hartford; her sister Catherine Berckman; her sister-in-law Mary O'Connor; her brother-in-law Anthony Lineen; her 8 grandchildren: Rebecca Fennessy, Robert Gibbs, Michael Gibbs, Stephanie Connolly, Heather Connolly, Samantha Connolly, Brittany Groat and Cory Groat; 5 great-grandchildren; her cousins Kathleen Hollman and Peggy Egan; and many nieces and nephews. Eileen's family would like to thank the staff at The Reservoir in West Hartford, and Hartford HealthCare Hospice for all of the care and support they provided. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday October 27, 2015, at 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 79 New Park Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106. The burial will be private.
