Obituary

Eleonora Alla Grin passed peacefully Monday, August 1, 2022. Born in Poland on November 30, 1938, Eleonora was one of two children of the late Jacob and Irene Suwalow. She was the wife of Walter Grin for 62 years. Eleonora experienced a tumultuous childhood in Europe during World War II, and emigrated to New York City with her late parents and late brother Arthur.  Eleonora was a graduate of the City College of New York. She excelled at languages and taught in university, high school and elementary settings. After marrying Walter, she lived in Pennsylvania and Virginia before finally moving to Connecticut. Eleonora worked for Connecticut Bank and Trust (CBT) while living in East Hartford. In her free time, she enjoyed planning trips as a part-time travel agent. She traveled often with her husband, friends and family, exploring places all over the world including Alaska, Hawaii, China and Egypt. Alla loved to host dinners and it was most special if you were invited to her wonderful "duck dinners". She was an avid reader, loved to shop and take long walks. Every fall, she would head to Cape Cod with friends to mushroom hunt, hike through the woods and find their secret places. Eleonora was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She was a member of St. Panteleimon's Russian Orthodox Church in Hartford for many years.

The family would like to thank the staff of Maple View Manor in Rocky Hill for the care and support they provided to Eleonora.

Eleonorae is survived by her beloved husband Walter of Marlborough, CT; her son Victor (Dana) of Glastonbury, CT; her daughter Natalie (Kevin) of Marlborough, CT; and her grandchildren Andrew Raymond (Allison), Kira Raymond, Eric Grin, and Elise Grin. Also, by her late brother Arthur's (Margarita, deceased) children, Marina Morgenegg (Clifford) and Tamara McKenna (Robert).

The funeral mass will be on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 9:30 AM at St. Panteleimon Russian Orthodox Church, 19 Becket St, Hartford, CT 06114 and burial will immediately follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery 453 Fairfield Ave., Hartford, CT 06114.  The Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke., Wethersfield, CT has charge of arrangements.
