Facundo V.
Dominguez
Sep 21, 1931 — Oct 1, 2024
Hartford
Facundo V. Dominguez, 93, of Hartford, CT beloved husband of Miriam (Sanchez) Dominguez passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Saint Mary Home. Facundo was born in Ciego de Avila, Cuba and was the son of the late Jose Facundo and Ismaela Mercedes (Pina) Dominguez. Facundo married his wife Miriam in 1962 in Cuba. They moved to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain in 1971 and in 1978 moved again to Hartford, leaving behind extended family and a career, with the ultimate goal of creating a better life for their children and those to come. He worked for Gold Bond Mattress Company and Hartford Hospital, all the while working at Travelers at night to be able to provide for the family, and finally retired 1999. Though he left behind a new home and farm in Cuba and his job as an accountant, he continued his passion for agriculture through taking care of his garden and the gardens of his family members. He also enjoyed helping with home projects, maintaining a beautiful yard, and playing with his grandchildren. Facundo was known for lending a helping hand to those who needed it. His kindness and generosity could never be forgotten and was clearly passed down to his sons whom he loved so dearly. The message he wanted to instill to his sons, grandchildren, and others was always one of determination and the value of hard work.
Facundo is survived by his wife of 62 years, Miriam and their four children: Luis, Alvaro and his wife Iwona, Facundo, Juan and his wife Jennifer. Facundo's legacy lives on through his 7 grandchildren: Jennifer and husband Shane Hickey, Stefanie, Gabriella, Kobe, Katarina, Kali, and Lexi Dominguez. He was also a beloved great-grandfather to Vivianne Hickey and an uncle to many nieces and nephews, both here and abroad. Facundo was predeceased by his sisters and brother: Ines, Maria and Rafael. He deeply cared for and would do anything to support his family and friends and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Funeral service for Facundo will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 12 pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 79 New Park Ave., Hartford, CT. Burial will be private.
