SHORTELL, Frederick J. Frederick J. Shortell, 69, of Newington, beloved husband and soul mate for 44 years of Nancy (Drohan) Shortell died, Saturday, (November 27, 2010). He was born in Hartford, son of the late Frederick J. Shortell, Jr. and Margaret (Roth) Shortell and had lived in Newington for 40 years. Prior to his retirement, Fred was a special education teacher at River Street School in Windsor. He was a graduate of the University of Hartford, and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He loved the beach and boating, and for many years enjoyed his summers at Madison. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a special cousin, June Bavin and her husband Doug of Madison and Rita Arsenault and her husband Al of Glastonbury. The funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no visiting hours.
