Genevieve (Cataldo) Clair, 91, of Rocky Hill, died Christmas Day, December 25, 2012.
She was born in Hartford, the daughter of the late James Vincent and Isabella (Lombard) Cataldo. She attended Hartford schools and graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1939. She moved to Rocky Hill in 1960 with her loving husband Edward who passed away August 12, 1999. She was also predeceased by a sister Antoinette Kraigenow of Demin, NM, Dominick Cataldo of Manchester, CT, and Mary Jarvis of Hartford, CT. She began her career in 1955 at the Hartford Municipal Court and continued her service in the State Circuit Court G.A.14 as Deputy Clerk. The court was changed to Common Pleas Court 14 and the Superior Court G.A.14. She retired as Clerk of Superior Circuit Court G.A.14 after 25 years. She belonged to the American Legion Aux #23. She was a life member of VFW Ladies Aux. #9929, CSEA Chapter 411. She leaves a devoted son Charles J. Stoppa Jr., and his wife Theresa of Newington, a grandson Christopher Stoppa and his fiancé Lori Pascuzzi, a granddaughter Melissa Hayes and her husband Steve of Wethersfield and her precious great grandchildren Charles W. Hayes and Paul Stoppa. She leaves sister-in-laws Kittie Cataldo of Manchester and Bess Ricardi of Newington. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their thanks to Maria & Josephine of Station 1 at Avery Heights for their care. Also a very special thank you to Tatyana for her loving care of Genevieve during the final weeks of her life. The funeral will be Saturday, December 29, 2012, 9 a.m. from the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke. Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. in St. James Church, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
