Georgia Varlas, 88, of Glastonbury, CT beloved wife of the late Theodore Varlas passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at home. Georgia was born in Mystras-Sparta, Greece in 1936 and was the daughter of the late Demosthenes and Panayiota (Trougakos) Tsouvalis. She graduated high school in Sparta and began her higher educational studies in Athens, Greece. Georgia met and married her husband Theodore in 1959 and immigrated shortly thereafter to the United States. Together they achieved great success in both the restaurant and real estate industry. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Hartford, CT and St. George Cathedral Philoptchos. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed Summers in her beautiful hometown of Mystra.

Georgia is survived by her three daughters Angie Varlas and her husband George Karageorge, Panagiota Karounos and her husband Peter, Joanne Karabetsos and her husband Dino, her sister Ekaterina Captain, and her five grandsons Demetri, Theodore, and Themistocles Karounos, Michael and Theodore Karabetsos. Besides her husband Theodore, Georgia was predeceased by her two brothers Evangelos Tsouvalis and Ioannis Tsouvalis and her sister Stamatiki Giannakopoulos.

Relatives and friends may call at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Ave., Hartford, CT. Monday, April 29, 2024 from 12pm to 1pm.  Funeral service for Georgia will be held Monday at 1pm at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, CT.
