Irene (McJunkin) Grogan, 97, of West Hartford, beloved widow of Howard J. Grogan Friday, February 28, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital, & Medical Center. She was born in Hartford daughter of the late William and Mary (Gallagher) McJunkin and had lived in Hartford most of her life before moving to West Hartford more than 30 years ago. Prior to her retirement Irene worked as a bookkeeper for John Tirkot Music company for many years, she had previously worked for Kohn Brothers Tobacco Co. and G. Fox & Co. She was a communicant of St. Thomas The Apostle Church and a member of their Woman's Club. She loved to read, knit, crochet, and travel, however she loved her family most of all. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy E. Grogan of West Hartford and Joan G. Furness of Hartford, a grandson, Scott Furness and his wife Susana of Florida and a great grandson Liam Robert Furness and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Tuesday, March 4, 2014, 10 a.m. from The Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke. Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Ave. West Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
