James A. Fantone, Sr., 89, of Wethersfield, died Thursday, July 2, 2015 in Hartford. James was born in Hartford, son of the late Joseph and Helena (Abbott) Fantone. He grew up there, graduating from Buckeley High School and went on to join the US Navy during WWII. James worked for Continental Bakery for 38 years. He lived in Wethersfield for 60 years. He was a member of First Church of Christ in Wethersfield and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the Old Lyme beach cottage.
James is survived by his son James Fantone, Jr. and wife Anne of Wethersfield, his brother Robert Fantone of Hartford, his sister Marjorie Fantone of Hartford, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in life by his loving wife Gladys (Hann) Fantone, his brothers Raymond and Joseph Fantone, and his sisters Dorothy Clark and Marion Dellafera.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, 11am at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke., Wethersfield with the Reverend Tessa Afshar officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill. Calling hours will be held Monday, July 6, from 5pm-8pm at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home.
