Joan F. Lewis, 80, of Wethersfield, CT and Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Niantic, CT died suddenly Sunday, (April 19th) in Florida, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Born in White Hall, NY, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Minerva Foote of White Hall, NY. She was predeceased by her loving husband H. Wynn Lewis and her son, Terry R. Lewis. Joan was a member of the Wethersfield Country Club, Pine Acres Club and the Indian River Club. For years she volunteered her time at the East Lyme Library and Hartford Hospital. She loved to spend time cooking, gardening, knitting, doing needlepoint and dancing at Cherrystones in Old Lyme, CT every Wednesday night, back in the day. She was an avid reader, often times reading multiple books at once. She loved to have a good time laughing with her family and very dear friends. Prior to moving back to Wethersfield several years ago, she enjoyed time at her home at Giants Neck Beach in Niantic. We all agree that her favorite thing to do was going on walks on the rocks and beach in search of that perfect piece of sea glass with her grandchildren and watching them experience all that the seashore has to offer. These are memories that we all will cherish. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She is survived by a son and his wife and their children, Wynn, Kelly, Andrew and Emily all of Essex, CT and Kayla of North Branford, CT; Terry's children, Terry and his wife Camilla, and their daughter Sienna of East Hampton, CT, Ryan of New Britain, CT and Kelly and her soon to be husband Jay of Old Saybrook, CT and their mother Kathleen Lewis of New Britain; a son Gary and his children Evan and Amy Lewis and their mother, Karen, all of Wethersfield, CT and a daughter and her husband, Nancy and Jim Franklin of Fort Pierce, FL, She is also survived by her sisters, Jeannie Skoglund of Vernon, CT and Janis Morgan of Glens Falls, NY, her brother Edward Foote of White Hall, NY and several nephews as well as many wonderful lifelong friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 11am-12pm at The Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke. Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Sienna A.
