John Mastorakis, 86, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of Georgia (Kyriakidou) Mastorakis, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Stavros, Greece, son of the late Kiparisis and Konstandina (Diamandoulakis) Mastorakis, and came to the states in 1970, buying his first home 2 years later in Hartford. He lived in Hartford for 30 years, moving to Rocky Hill, where he has lived for over 20 years. John was affectionately known as the "GQ" man by his daughter Deena and was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Hartford. He was known as a man of moral character with a kind heart, and was loved by everyone.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Paris Mastorakis, and his partner Diane Barbagallo of Rocky Hill. His daughter, Deena M. Karahalios , and her husband Arthur, of South Windsor. John leaves his six grandchildren; Panagiotis and his wife Brittany, Maria, Georgea, Alexandra, Ioannis, and Sofia.

He also leaves his three sisters, and extended family, all in Greece.

The funeral will be Wednesday, February 10, 2021, 1:30 p.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Ave. Hartford, CT 06114. with the Rev. Dr. George Zugravu officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Visiting hours will be an hour prior to the church service, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
