Jose "Tony" Gonzalez, Sr., 68, of Hartford, CT, beloved husband of Carmen Montanez, passed away in his home on July 5, 2023. Tony was born in Manhattan, NY on September 24, 1954 to his mother, Julia Cortez of Hartford.  As a resident of Hartford, Tony dove into the musical scene as a percussionist, which became his lifelong passion.

Tony is survived by his daughter, Mimi Gonzalez-Huertas; sons, Giovanni Gonzalez, Joel Gonzalez-Fuentes and Nelson Bello.  He is also survived by his wife's children, Michelle Ortega, Julio Ramos and Rafael Cuadrado, Tony also leaves behind to mourn his brothers, Bernardo Collazo and Wilfred Collazo, along with his sister, Lydia Rodriguez and many grandchildren. Tony was predeceased by this cherished son, Jose "T.J." Gonzalez, Jr.

Funeral service for Tony will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2023 at The Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke., Wethersfield, CT. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
