ZAPATKA, Judith (Allen) Judith A. Zapatka, 71, of West Hartford, died, Thursday, (December 3, 2009) at her home. She was born in Hartford, daughter of the late John and Frances (Blakesley) Allen and had lived in Wethersfield before moving to West Hartford twelve years ago. Prior to her retirement, Judith worked for Aetna Life Insurance Company for over 40 years. She was a graduate of Weaver High School and for several years and volunteered for the American Cancer Society. Judy will always be remembered for her positive attitude and her sincere interest in other people. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She is survived two sisters, Joan F. Sundwall and her husband Carl of Tariffville and Nancy A. Sheard of Southington, two nieces, and a nephew, Debra J. Thibault and her husband David, Thomas A. Sheard and his wife Diana all of Southington, and Sandra A. Phillips and her husband Steven of Avon, three great nieces, Hannah, Olivia and Julia, one great nephew Griffin, and her step-mother Hope S. Allen of Hartford. She also leaves her partner, Mark Lawrence of West Hartford. The funeral will be Monday December 7, 11 a.m. at The Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke., Wethersfield, with the Rev. William Zito officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Visiting hours will be TODAY, December 6, 3-6 p.m. at Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home.
