Obituary

Lucia Elena Gonzalez, "Nenita", was born in El Salvador in 1930.  Seeking a better life, she emigrated to the United States in 1968.  Knowing little English, and not knowing anyone, she came to Connecticut and has remained here since.  She worked as a housekeeper, worked in a factory, and then for the Hartford Board of Education.  She learned English, attended college and earned an Associate's Degree in Education.  She continued working in the Hartford Public School System for over 30 years until her retirement.  Through her, at times, difficult journey, Lucia remained the kind, thoughtful, friendly and caring person and mother she has always been.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.   Lucia's husband, Eladio, predeceased her 24 years ago.  They are now reunited.

Lucia is survived by her son, Oscar, her nephews and nieces Ada Alicia, Jose Manuel, Maria Del Carmen and Julio as well as lifelong friends Berta Alicia and Gladys.  There are many other friends whom she knew for decades.  She loved them all and she was loved by them.  May she rest in peace.  God Bless and God keep her.
