Obituary

Margarita (Mangi) Rivera, age 69, of Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on October 4, 2021 at Hartford Hospital.  She was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico to her late loving parents Evaristo Rivera and Evarista Garay, and moved to Hartford in 1960.

Mangi was a devoted wife to her husband William Prieto, Sr., a loving mother to her children Luis Torres of Hartford, Jose Torres of Manchester and Gedeon Torres of East Hartford.  She was also survived by her 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.  A caring sister to her siblings and a kind aunt too many nieces and nephews.  She dedicated much of her time as a caregiver to her grandson Justin Prieto.  Mangi was passionate about cooking, walking and sharing stories with her family.  Her impromptu humor and garnished laughter with everyone she interacted with resulted to her magnetic smile paired with her beautiful dimples that will be missed and forged in our memories forever.

She was predeceased by her step-father Serafin Garay, her oldest brother Julio Rivera, her sister Carmen Reyes and her youngest son William Prieto, Jr.

Calling hours will be held Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 79 New Park Avenue, Hartford.  Burial will follow in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
