Maria A. Gerena, 85, of Kissimmee, FL wife of the late Luis Garcia passed away December 17, 2024, at Vitas Health Care, Lake Wales, FL. Maria was born Naguabo, PR and was the for daughter of the late Rafael and Esmeralda (Mendoza) Gerena. Maria lived and worked in Hartford for many years before retiring to Florida.

Maria is survived by her sister Lola Gerena, her brothers Rafael Gerena and Manuel Gerena.  She leaves behind her children, Luis and Carmen Garcia, Aurea "Betty" Garcia, Richard Rodriguez, Luis "Cuchy" Carrasquillo, Hilda Carrasquillo, Rene Carrasquillo and her dearest niece Blanca Sanchez; along with her cherished 23 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren with one on the way and 3great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Maria was predeceased by her sons Henry "Hank" Garcia and Lin- Edward "Eddie" Garcia and her siblings Victor Gerena, Virgen Gerena, Vilma Iris Gerena, Ana Maria Gerena and Justa Gerena.

A wake will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the Dillon- Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke., Wethersfield, CT; with calling hours for family and friends from 2pm to 5pm.  A Mass Service will be held Monday, December 30, 2024, at 11am at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford, CT.
