Maria Mintatos, 93, of Newington, CT, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in the village of Gennadi on the beautiful island of Rhodes, Greece, Maria immigrated to the United States in 1950 to build a better future alongside her beloved husband, Dimitrios. Maria's life was an honorable testament to the enduring principles of her Greek heritage. Defined by her incredible fortitude and unwavering resilience, she worked tirelessly throughout her life to support and nurture her family. Maria loved to travel and loved to cook, especially stuffed grape leaves and koulourakia.

She is reunited in peace with her husband, Dimitrios, and her cherished son, Dr. Savvas Mintatos.

Maria's memory will be eternalized through her surviving family, who carry her spirit forward. She is survived by her loving daughter, Irene Diacosavvas, and Irene's husband, Socrates; her devoted grandchildren, Savvas and Emmanuel Diacosavvas; and her precious great-grandchildren, Emmanuel and Christos. Her strength, wisdom, and love will remain a guiding light for generations to come.

Family and friends are invited to gather for services this Friday, September 25, 2026, at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, located at 433 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford, CT 06114. Calling hours will be held at 10:00 AM, followed immediately by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Maria's honor to the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford, CT 06114.
