Maria Italia Pistritto, 97, of Hartford, widow of Antonio Pistritto, passed away on June 8, 2016, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Floridia, Prov of Siracusa, Sicily, daughter of the late Carmelo and Sebastiana (DeLuca) Italia. Maria was a communicant of St. Luke's Church in Hartford, formerly attending St. Augustine's. She worked as a seamstress for Merin Bros. for 17 years. Maria is survived by her daughter Josephine Fortuna and husband Vincenzo of Hartford, her four grandchildren Frank Fortuna and wife Kristen, Anthony Fortuna and wife Lisa, Christopher Pistritto and wife Lisa, and Lynne Sherry and husband Michael, her daughter-in-law Ann Pistritto of Pittsburgh, PA, and her five great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Tessa Fortuna, Marco and Stella Fortuna, and Maeve Sherry. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Maria was predeceased by her two sons, Salvatore and Carmelo Pistritto, her three brothers, Giuseppe, Salvatore, and Girolamo Italia. The family would like to thank everyone at Ellis Manor for their kindness and support, especially Bo, Carmen, and Annette. The funeral will be Monday, June 13, 9:15AM from the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10AM, in St. Luke's Church, 66 Bolton St, Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Friends and family may call on Sunday, June 12, from 4-7PM at the funeral home.
