Maria C. Teixeira, 94, of Hartford, CT beloved wife of Manuel Mendes Teixeira went to the Lord on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Born in Paranhos da Beira, Portugal, daughter of the late Francisco de Almeida Salgado and Herminia da Silva Lameiras.  Maria was married in Portugal to the love of her life, her surviving husband. They immigrated to America in 1951.  Maria was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She enjoyed many wonderful years tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She shared the fruits of her labor with family and friends. The gardens routinely provided flowers to decorate the Church of Our Lady of Fatima.  Maria enjoyed cooking traditional Portuguese meals, she was an excellent cook and you never left the table hungry. She and her husband were communicants of Our Lady of Fatima Church, and were one of the early founders of the Church in Hartford.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Manuel Mendes Teixeira, a daughter Maria Ferreira and a son Manny L. Teixeira, a brother Antonio Salgado and his wife Nelida, a sister-in-law Emilia Salgado and sister-in-law Odete Salgado of Portugal. Grandchildren; Cindy, Cristina, Carlos and wife Sabrina, Matthew and wife, Kirsten.  Great grandchildren; Kolton, Ian, Paul, Austin, Sabrina, Lily, Lennyn and Wyatt, Isaiah and Isabel. Left to mourn are her beloved Nieces, Nephews and Friends in the USA and Portugal. Maria was predeceased by brothers: Jose, Francisco and wife Palmira and Manuel. There will be a Christian Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Kane St., Hartford, CT on Wednesday, September 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Mausoleum #2, Hartford, CT.
