Obituary

Martha Chapps Wall Sena, 89, a woman of uncompromising independence and elegance,
passed away at Hartford Hospital on March 13, 2011 with her son and daughter-in-law by her side after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. For the past two years, "Mardy" (as she preferred to be called) resided at the McLean Home in Simsbury. Born on July 29, 1921 to Mary (Silkins) and Joseph Chapps in Poquonock, CT, Mardy
was the beloved wife of the late Victor Sena whom she met at the Connecticut Bank and
Trust where she was the Executive Assistant to the bank's Senior Vice President. Mardy
and Vic shared a beautiful marriage and a stunning home in Wethersfield for 38 years.
Mardy and Vic also had a passion for the Connecticut seashore where they resided every
summer for decades. In addition to her parents and husband, Mardy was predeceased by her sisters Ann Chapps Ficocello and husband Chris, Mary Chapps Wychunas and husband Joseph, Stella Chapps Sperre and husband Norman and her brothers John Chapps and his wife Gadviga (Jean) and George Chapps and his wife Eva. An accomplished artist, outstanding cook, voracious reader and a lover of music, Mardy leaves to mourn her passing, her beloved son Thomas Joseph Wall and his wife Rosemary Arcari Wall of West Hartford, as well as numerous nieces and nephews including John Chapps and George Chapps of Newington; Diane Sperre Robinson and her husband Ron of Branford, Frances Sperre of Daytona, FL, Frank Sena and his wife Mary of Wethersfield and Richard Sena and his fiance Laurena Murray of Glastonbury. Mardy's son and daughter-in-law would like to express their appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at the McLean Home in Simsbury for their exceptional care and compassion to their mother and for sharing in Mardy's joyful spirit. Their ceaseless devotion to Mardy allowed her to live her final days in dignity and comfort. Thank you, too, to Hartford Hospital's outstanding staff Palliative and Hospice staff and VNA volunteers. There are no words to adequately express our gratitude for the comfort all of you provided to our dear mother and to us. The funeral will be Wednesday, March 16th, 11:30 a.m. from the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpk., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon, at The Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield.
