Obituary

Mary Carabase Triarhos, 88, of Vienna, VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. Born and raised in Hartford, CT, Mary graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1952. She met her future husband and love of her life, Tassos, through mutual friends in 1954. After countless dates and Greek dances, they married at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in 1958. They would go on to live in New York, Virginia, and Florida. She formed myriad friendships and was known for her infectious smile. Through her journey, she worked as a restaurateur as owner operator of Havabite Eatery in Fairfax, VA, a real estate agent, and in local government; serving as a mentor to many along the way. She enjoyed participating at her local church, visiting the beach, playing cards, and watching game shows. Her greatest pride was her family, chief among them, her three daughters. She was an amazing mother.

She is survived by her daughters, Effie Triarhos, Gia (Bill) McCarthy, and Renie Triarhos; her grandchildren, Tassos (Amanda) McCarthy, Billy McCarthy, Iosif McCarthy, and Maria Wuerker; and by her great grandchildren, Georgia McCarthy and William McCarthy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Tassos; her parents, George and Irene (Kasolis) Carabase; and her siblings, Penelope Souza and Dukas Carabase
