Nghidiec T.
Long
Oct 8, 1930 — Aug 3, 2020
West Hartford
Nghi Diec "Vicky" Tran Long was born in Guangzhou City, Guangdong
Province, China in 1930. She was the eldestoffour sisters and two brothers.
She traveled to Hong Kong to escape the Sino-Japanese war before
eventually settling in Vietnam for school. She graduated Valedictorian from
high school and she immediately gave back to her community as a teacher.
In 1957, Vicky married Duc Long after developing a friendship by serving
in church together. They soon raised a family together after the birth of
their son David, and daughter Mari. In 1978, Vicky fled Vietnam with Duc
and Mari to Malaysia, as David was sent to receive education in the U.S.A.
With the help of U.S.A. sponsorship provided by Vicky's brother-in-law,
Bob Worthington, she was reunited with David in Connecticut in 1979.
Both of Vicky's children, David and Mari, added grandsons Christopher
and Aaron to the family, both of whom Vicky loved dearly. During her time
in the States, Vicky had a passion for gardening, writing poetry, sharing her
testimony, and exchanging correspondences with relatives and friends all
around the world. Her exquisite handwriting and eloquent speech was
admired by many. She was also very skilled with origami, and her artwork
was displayed in many homes of her family and friends.
Those who have met her knew that she was willing to give more than
receive, always eager to share her time with people or gift hand-crafted
creations to bring a smile to those around her. Being saved by the grace of
Jesus Christ's love, she loved the Lord and lived out her faith by sacrificing
for those in need, and loving others with her generosity and hospitality.
Vicky is survived by her son David and daughter-ln-Iaw Joanna, daughter
Mari and son-in-law James, and grandsons Christopher and Aaron.
She was preceded in death by her husband Duc Long, and her siblings.
