Nora Anne Jones (Barnicle), 89, died peacefully at Jefferson House in Newington, CT on Sunday February 12, 2017 after a brave battle with CHF. Born in Hartford CT on January 29, 1928 to the late Patrick and Mary (Walsh) Barnicle. Nora graduated from Hartford High School in 1945 and graduated from E.C. Goodwin Technical School of Nursing in 1950, first becoming a surgical nurse. She married Raymond Jones in 1954 and had six children. Nora and Raymond raised their family in Wethersfield and lived in the house they built for 58 years before moving to the Atria Greenridge Place in Rocky Hill in 2015. She was an avid reader and when done with her crossing guard duty, she volunteered in the school library. Nora enjoyed her work in the community of Wethersfield, volunteering at the voting centers for many years. Nora will be remembered for her love of Saturday tag sales and her love of thrift store shopping (why pay full price!). She will be remembered for how deeply she cared for her family and friends, never missing the annual Barnicle family picnics in July in order to connect with her many nieces and nephews. Nora will also be remembered for her way of connecting with the people around her, showing sincere interest their stories and providing her opinions (which were many).
