Patricia A. (Rowland) Ames, 81, died peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Hartford Hospital. She was born in Hartford on August 19, 1933 to the late Clinton H. and Katherine M. (Hadden) Rowland and lived most of her life there until moving to Newington several years ago. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and neighbors. She was retired from the former Sage-Allen Hartford department store after working there for over 25 years. Pat loved to read, travel and play bingo. She also enjoyed being a member of the Newington Senior Center. Patricia is survived by her sister, Nancy Malvicini and her husband Richard Malvicini of Newington, as well as her nieces Renee, Tina and Brigitte and their families of Georgia, and her niece Michelle and her family of Alabama. She also leaves an Aunt, Viola Westerberg of Florida and several cousins. She also leaves behind her very best friend Pat Magnan of Newington, and close friends Dan and Rob of Windsor.
She was pre-deceased by her brother, Clinton Rowland, Jr. and his wife, Erika, and her cherished niece and nephews, Mark, Leslie and Scott Malvicini. Pat's family would like to thank everyone at the Newington Department of Human Services and the Newington Senior & Disabled Center for their assistance to Pat over the past years, as well as to Jefferson House in Newington, where she spent her last few months, for their wonderful care and attention. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 15, 2015, 11:00 AM in St. Mary's Church, 626 Willard Avenue, Newington, CT 06111. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
