Obituary

Patricia (Poulin) Maturo quietly left this world on the beautiful spring morning of April 12, 2026 — a warm, sunny day she had been waiting for. Her passing has left a hole in the hearts of all who loved her.

Patricia was born on November 17, 1937, at her childhood home in Wethersfield, Connecticut, to Sophie and Leo Poulin. The youngest of three girls, she grew up in Wethersfield and graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1955.

After graduation, Patricia held several jobs until the birth of her only child, at which point she embraced motherhood fully and joyfully. She was a Brownie leader, a religious education teacher, and the gracious host of countless neighborhood gatherings filled with tag, hide-and-seek, and tea parties. More than anything, she was her daughter's best friend and confidante — a role model for what it means to be a mother, always attentive to the little things that matter most.

Patricia later joined the Newington Police Department, where she spent 20 distinguished years as Head of Records. She retired when her first grandchild was born and discovered her true calling as "Nana." For the next 30 years, she lovingly devoted herself to her five grandchildren, who were her greatest pride and joy. She never missed a game, a concert, or a special event, and she was an integral and cherished part of the Sardo home and the daily lives of the family she loved so deeply.

Nothing made Patricia happier than giving gifts to the people she loved — earning her the beloved nickname "Nana Claus" — and hearing about the details of their everyday lives. She found joy in the simple pleasures: the warmth of a Caribbean beach, a good cup of Dunkin' coffee, a Danielle Steel novel, Lay's potato chips, and cheesecake — really, any sweet would do. She could take or leave a big meal, but she dearly loved a good hot dog with chili and onions.

Patricia leaves behind her beloved husband, James, with whom she shared 37 years of marriage; her daughter, Kelly Sardo, and son-in-law, John, of Glastonbury; and her five grandchildren: John and his wife, Lizzie, of Rochester, New York; Jordan of Brookline, Massachusetts; and Michael, Kevin, and Sophia, all of Glastonbury. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews with whom she shared many cherished memories. She was predeceased by her parents and her two beloved sisters, Joan and Betty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield, Connecticut. Burial will follow immediately at Village Cemetery in Wethersfield.
