Simonelli
Jul 4, 1934 — Oct 23, 2018
Rocky Hill
Patricia (Shumski) Simonelli, 84, of Rocky Hill, CT passed peacefully on October 23 rd , 2018 after a long and courageous battle with several major health issues. Pat was born in Hartford, CT on July 4 th , 1934 to Stanley and Josephine (Dombroski) Shumski. She is now united in God's hands with her beloved husband of 27 years, the one true love of her life, John L. Simonelli who she dated at Hartford Public School so many years ago.
Pat worked for over 42 years for the original Connecticut Bank and Trust working her way up from teller while in high school to assistant treasurer in charge of the vault when she retired. With her boundless energy she quickly became bored with retirement and went back to work at the Big Y market in Rocky Hill for 10 amazing years until her health finally forced her into retirement again.
Pat loved her flowers and spent a lot of time working on them both inside and outside her home. She also enjoyed the UCONN woman's basketball games and followed the long-standing family tradition of watching and cheering for the New York Giants. She was an amazing cook who spent countless hours preparing delicious meals for her family which always turned into an amazing adventure for the family. Some of her dishes were legendary.
Pat is survived by her sons John M. Simonelli and his wife Catherine of Broad Brook, CT and Steve Simonelli of Cromwell, CT, her grandchildren Bryana, Emily, Marissa, John and Abby and her great-grandchildren Anthony and Tadgh. She also leaves behind her brother John Shumski of Colchester, CT, his children, Peter, John and Denise, and her very special sister Margaret Patry and husband Paul of St Albans, VT.
She was predeceased by her loving husband John L. Simonelli who God called home 35 years ago and her youngest son Paul Simonelli. Both losses weighed heavily on her heart.
There will be a private celebration of her life on Monday followed by interment at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to the dedicated and compassionate caregivers at Masonicare Partners Home Health and Hospice, 111 Founders Plaza, Suite 200, East Hartford, CT 06108.
