Obituary

Priscilla Volpe, beloved wife of the late Frank Volpe and a longtime resident of Hartford passed  away peacefully to her heavenly home on August 12, 2021 at the age of 93.

Priscilla was predeceased by her parents Donald and Gladys Kelley (Redmond), her brother Richard Kelley, and sisters Emma Hills and Angie Kincaid. She leaves behind her daughter Gail Hunley and husband Ron and her stepdaughter Carole Volpe. Grand children, Sean Hunley & wife Jo, LauraBeth Hunley, John Jensen, Terry Swetel & Laurie Jensen. Great grandchildren; Ella, Liam, Finn, Landon, Angela, David, Christopher, David and Joseph, nieces, nephews and friends.

Priscilla was born on March 17, 1928, in Westbrook, Maine. She moved to Hartford and worked at Barridon where she met and eventually married Frank. They enjoyed almost 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2006. In winter they were off to their home in Vero Beach and then enjoyed much of the summer at their home in Maine.

Priscilla never lost her Maine accent, and her family will always remember some of her famous "say-ins" like "Drive ca-ful dee-a", and "That was a nice pray-a", "Don't you look pretty today", and "Where's the dog?".  And you never left the Hartford house without a wave from the front window or side door.

We all know how much she loved animals, especially dogs (she had 6). However, she also loved feeding the birds and her favorite goats who lived next door in Maine. In lieu of flowers, Priscilla would love that donations could be made in her memory to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT 06111.

Special thanks to her caregiver Ruth and the nurses & aides at Hartford Healthcare at Home and Hospice who lovingly cared for her when her family needed help the most. We will all miss the twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes and her winning smile.

Visitation and funeral service will be held at 10:00 on Tuesday August 17 th , at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpk, Wethersfield, CT. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield.
