Richard W. Savage, 55, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Carol (Jankowski) Savage passed away on June 7, 2016, at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ, son of Richard Savage and Audrey (Rehm) Murdoch. Prior to his career Richard attended Bryant University. He was an accountant with Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co. and stayed as they transitioned to Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. for a total of 28 years. He loved playing pool and was a member of the American Poolplayers Association. Richard a huge sports fan, avid golfer, and history enthusiast. He also volunteered for the Special Olympics. Besides his wife, Richard leaves behind his two sons, Richard G. and Randy B. Savage, both of Herndon VA, his mother Audrey Murdoch, his father Richard Savage and his wife Beverly, his two brothers, Gary Savage and his wife Marie of Cromwell, and Craig Savage of Bay City, MI. He is also survived by his two step-sons, Sean Gwara of Wethersfield, and Jeffrey Gwara of Meriden, his step-sister Sheri Wells and husband Forry of St. Louis, MO, his two granddaughters Alessandra and Gia Gwara, his three nieces, Renee McGrath, Andrea Himebaugh and Allison Vicino, and his nephew Thomas Savage. He was predeceased by his step-father Robert Murdoch and step-sister Kelley McCannon. The funeral service will begin 12 noon, Saturday June, 11, at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10AM- 12PM on Saturday June, 11, prior to the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
