Obituary

Robert Allen Johnson, of Wethersfield, passed away on March 16, 2015 and is now reunited with his wife Elaine who predeceased him in 2013. Bob was the son of George F. and Helen Cooke Johnson and grew up in Hartford and Manchester. He graduated from St. Anselms College and received a Master's degree in English from Trinity College. His career was spent in the Education field as a teacher at Brackett and West Middle schools in Hartford; and principal at New Park Avenue (where he met Elaine). He became the administrator for the Connecticut School for Boys in Meriden and the Long Lane School for Girls in Middletown and retired from the State Board of Education in 1986. In retirement Bob and Elaine traveled extensively collecting many passport stamps and longtime friendships. Their passports were filled with stamps from most of the European countries, along with Russia, the Far East and South America.
Bob was predeceased by his siblings George F. Johnson, Jr., Ann Pinto, Margaret Johnson and Paul Johnson. Bob is survived by his stepsons, Raymond White of Novato, CA and Larry White of Carlsbad, CA. A third stepson, Thomas White, had predeceased him. In addition, he leaves a daughter in-law, Donna Pearl of Carlsbad, CA, a grandson, Harrison White, of Novato, CA, a brother in-law, Charlie Pinto, of Manchester, CT in addition to cousins, nieces and nephews.
As only Bob could, he wanted to have it known that since he outlived most of his contemporaries, he rues the thought of disturbing or distressing those who will even note of his departure. A memorial service will be held at Corpus Christi Church in Wethersfield on May 2, 2015 at 11:30am with a reception to follow. To share a memory with the family please visit www.dillonbaxter.com.
