Roland A. Girouard, Sr. 98, of Newington, husband of the late Estelle (Palka) Girouard, died, Sunday, September 23, 2012. He was born in LaPatrie, Canada and had lived in the Hartford area for most of his life. Prior to his retirement, Roland was a longtime member of Local 777 Pipe Fitters Union. He was a communicant of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Hartford Council. He is survived by two sons, Arthur Girouard of Windsor, and Roland A. Girouard, Jr. and his wife Helen of Hartford, two daughters, Marian E. St. Andrew and her husband Mark of Hartford and Phyllis A. Dawkins of East Hartford, 12 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Gene and Bernard Girouard. The funeral will be Thursday, September 27, 2012, 10:30 a.m. from The Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke. Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. in St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, 494 New Britain Ave. Hartford. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
