Obituary

Rosa Marquez Cuadrado, 85, formerly of Hartford, CT and most recently of Wethersfield, CT passed away peacefully in February 14,
2025, surrounded by her loving husband, Domingo Marquez, and her children. Born on February 2, 1940, in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, Rosa was the beloved daughter of the late Severo Cuadrado and Maria Luisa Pagan.

She had a strong bond with her children and, despite having many, made sure to stay in touch with them as often as possible—if not daily, then at least every week. A lifelong parishioner of St. Peter's Church in Hartford. Rosa's faith was an important part of her life, she cherished attending prayer rosaries with her church friends and found deep fulfillment in spiritual retreats. One of her favorite traditions was stopping by Dunkin' Donuts with her friends for a coffee after church service. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life from dancing to the rhythms of bachata to salsa and merengue. A true foodie at heart, she enjoyed her favorite meal of rice and beans and delighted in treats like flan and dulce de arroz.
She loved indulging in life's little joys, from visiting the casino to shopping at JCPenney. Always impeccably groomed, Rosa took pride in her appearance, keeping her hair perfectly styled and her nails polished with regular manicures and pedicures. Rosa had a great sense of style and always dressed elegantly. For years, she remained loyal to her trusted hairdresser, Iris, maintaining her signature look with care. She also had a deep love for gardening, surrounding her home with beautiful roses, a passion that began when she lived in Puerto Rico. Rosa's warmth, elegance, and devotion to her family and faith will always be remembered. She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Rosa was a caring and loving mother-in-law who always treated her daughters-in-law as if they were her own. Her generous heart and nurturing spirit made her a cornerstone of her family. Deeply loved by her grandchildren, Rosa was always willing to give her time and energy to care for them, especially when they were young. She created countless cherished memories filled with love and warmth that will live on in their hearts forever. May her memory continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Rosa is survived by her devoted husband, Domingo Marquez, and her cherished children: Evelyn and her husband Tommy, Dominick and his wife Donna, Jose and his wife Rosa, Jaime, Miguel and his wife Eileen. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and best friend Tuna. Rosa was preceded in death by her beloved son, Edwin Marquez (Cookie).
