Obituary

Beloved mother and Nonna, Santa Giannone Miano, 78, of Windsor, CT passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024. One of seven children, she was born in Palazzolo Acreide, Provincia di Siracusa, Italy on October 13, 1945 and was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Filomena (Funello) Giannone. Affectionately known as Dina, she immigrated to the U.S. with her husband, Salvatore, in 1966 and lived in Connecticut for 58 years. She was a devoted Catholic who had an extensive collection of rosary beads and prayer cards. She loved to cook and was always willing to lend a hand in the kitchen at family gatherings. Most recently in the past few years, she became known as the resident artist in the nursing home and had a passion for bingo! She loved to watch the birds, rabbits and bears outside of her window. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with her grandkids: Roberto, Joshua, Adam, Jillian, Evan, and Emma in addition to her great grandkids Gianna, Stella and Luna.

Santa is survived by her three children Sandra of CT, Sebastian (Joanne) of CT, and Carmela (Scott) of NY along with her extended family in both the U.S. and Italy. Santa was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore. The family would like to express thanks for the care given by the ICU team at St. Francis.
