Saul Hernandez Ortiz, 81, of Hartford, CT, beloved husband of Maria (Colon) Hernandez, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at Hartford Hospital. Saul was born in Juncos, PR, and was the son of the late Jose and Victoria (Ortiz) Hernandez.

Besides his loving wife, Maria, Saul is survived by their children, Michael, Damaly, Saul Jr., Emelynda, Frankie and his wife Annette, Davy and his wife Sonia, and Jason and his wife Angela.

He is also survived by his siblings, Miguel and his wife Hermelinda, Jose and his wife, and Luis. He was predeceased by his sisters, Santa, Barbina, and Hipolita.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, David, Yalienie, Geovanny, Ricardo, Marline, Frankie and his wife Anna, Melanie and her fiancé Kevin, Anthony, Ladrica, Aliyah and her husband Dylon, Nalyne, Davy Jr., Alexis, and Syanelle; and his great-grandchildren, Mason, Zaven, Miguel, Chase, Messiah, Gavin, Marianna, Celeste, Janayalise, Camila, and Virginia.

Saul loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed traveling and going on family cruises, watching live baseball games, and playing dominoes. When he was younger, he loved going fishing with his best friend, Rosendo.

He also loved cooking for his family, especially during the holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas were his favorite holidays and were special times for him to be surrounded by the people he loved most.

Funeral services for Saul will be held for relatives and friends on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, with calling hours from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT.

Services on the day of the burial, Thursday, October 1, 2026, will begin at Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford, CT.
