Stavros "Steve" Kyriacou Ttofi, 92, our beloved husband and father, passed peacefully into eternal life on Friday, November 27, 2015. Born in Anafotia, Cyprus on February 20, 1923 to the late Kyriacos and Eleni (Papamichael) Ttofi, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1949. He lived in Newington for 58 years. He married the love of his life Mary (Leonardos) Ttofi on October 26, 1952. Dad loved his family deeply. He worked very hard to provide for us, retiring from Stop & Shop after 29 years. He finally retired from his part-time job at 73 when he needed a knee replacement. His own formal education ended in the 8th grade, but he always encouraged his children's educational pursuits. Dad was a great gardener, passing on his love of gardening to his children. Still vigorous at 80, he hand dug the garden with a spade! He was an excellent outdoor griller and will be especially remembered for his lamb souvlaki. He also completed many home projects with his son. He was devastated by Mary's 13-year ongoing struggle with Alzheimer's disease. A devoted husband, he visited her daily in the nursing home for more than 5 years until he was unable to do so because of his own declining health. Besides Mary, he leaves his son and caregiver for many years Dr. Christopher Ttofi, of Newington and his girlfriend, Maria Laureano, of Manchester, and his daughter Elaine Goulas and her husband, George, of Oxford, MA. He was predeceased by his brothers Michalis, Demetrios, and Efstathios and his sisters Artemisia and Hariklia. Steve was a longtime member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Britain. Dad will be greatly missed. Until we meet again. A sincere thanks to his nurses including Pat, Sophia, Claire, Edith, and Doreen, and to the CNAs who gave him excellent care, especially Verna, Estefany, and Tulia. A big thank you to Juliet, the unit manager, who oversaw his care. There are no calling hours. Funeral and burial are private. Donations in Steve's name may be made to: Alzheimer's Association CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067. To share a memory with the family please visit www.dillonbaxter.com
