Sylvia G. Root "Gerry", 87, of Rocky Hill, departed this earth on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. She was born August 18, 1932, beginning her life in Houlton, ME. She attended Houlton High where she was a majorette in the band. She moved to Wethersfield at 18 and adopted it as her home town. It was here that she fell in love with and married Albert E. Root Jr. Sylvia took great joy in her tag sales and doted on her local grandchildren. She had much love and pride for her family. Sylvia is survived by her children, Andrew Root of Wethersfield, Ted Root and his wife Kelly of North Carolina, Janice Stanton and her husband Pete Mantovani of Rocky Hill, granddaughter, Haley Stanton of Wethersfield, cousin, Victoria Wentworth of Windsor. She is predeceased by her husband, Albert E. Root, Jr., daughter, Pamela Christian, beloved grandson, Grant Stanton. A private service will be held for immediate family.
