Thomas E. Basdeo, 55 of Hartford, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at his home. He was born in Grove Village, Guyana, son of Mooniram and Kissoondai (Sukhraj) Basdeo, and had lived in Hartford for many years. Besides his parents he is survived by his daughter, Finella Dipoo of Shrewsbury, MA and his son, Carl Basdeo of Millbury, MA. He also leaves his 2 sisters; Mary Alphonso of Hartford, and Elizabeth Hariprasad of West Hartford, a granddaughter, Isabella Dipoo, several nieces and nephews: Chazz Alphonso, Maxwell Alphonso, Anna Alphonso, Joy Hariprasad, Jessica Hariprasad, Jeremy Hariprasad, and many aunts and uncles.

Tommy loved the road and made a career out of driving trucks, whether across the country or, more recently, between postal centers for the USPS. He had a great aptitude for working with his hands and teasing friends and family with his words. Tommy's passing is at the finality of a lengthy battle with cancer. Throughout his treatment, he was always in high spirits and always managed to keep a strong, albeit stubborn, demeanor. The family would like to thank the members of his care team at John A. DeQuattro Cancer Center, Jim and Ursilla Coelho for helping Tommy reach his appointments, and the great support of Jeff Cureton and the Tour 1 team at USPS Hartford.

Visiting hours will be Sunday, April 18, 2021, from 2 to 5 pm at the Dillon Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpk. Wethersfield, CT 06109. There will be a funeral service held on Sunday the 18th at 4 pm at the funeral home.
