Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Todd Purcaro, who left us unexpectedly on Thursday, January 16th, 2025 at Yale New Haven Health Hospice after battling a long and courageous fight with cancer. at the age of 59. Todd was born in Waterbury, CT and was the son of Roma (Boyle) Purcaro and the late Pat Purcaro. Todd lived in Wethersfield for most of his adult life, graduated from Naugatuck High School class of 84 where he played football and went on to CCSU where he got a business degree. A cherished father, beloved friend, and dedicated worker, Todd was a person whose warmth, generosity, and infectious spirit touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Above all, Todd was a loving and dedicated father to his daughter, Gina. He took great pride in being her teacher, mentor, and guide. Together, they spent countless hours making memories—whether learning valuable work skills, enjoying simple moments of laughter, or embarking on life's little adventures. His love for her was unwavering, and he made it a priority to impart his knowledge, work ethic, and passion for life, ensuring that she would grow into a confident, capable, and compassionate individual. Todd was not only known for his unwavering optimism but also for their profound love of drumming. From a young age, he developed a unique bond with rhythm, expressing himself through every beat and filling the hearts of those around him with joy. Whether performing with friends or practicing alone, drumming was more than just a hobby for Todd—it was a language through which he communicated his passion for life. His passion for drumming was evident to anyone who heard him play. The rhythm of his drums was a reflection of his lively, dynamic personality—a man who truly lived life in full beat. Todd was also known for his strong work ethic, spending his days as a dedicated employee at United States Postal Service for 30 years, where he made lasting connections with coworkers and customers alike. His attention to detail and dependable nature made him a valued part of the team. Alongside this, he was a much-loved bartender, where his ability to listen, tell a great story, and always offer a friendly smile made him a favorite among patrons. His presence behind the bar was as comforting as it was lively, and he formed friendships that will endure in the hearts of those who knew him. Loved by everyone who knew him, Todd had a rare gift for making others feel seen and appreciated. His laughter was contagious, his heart was kind, and his ability to make everyone feel like family was a testament to the deep love and warmth he carried within him. Todd was an accomplished drummer and played with various bands in the area, he loved riding his motorcycle, skiing, traveling, cooking and going to the Cape with his daughter Gina.

Todd is survived by his daughter, Gina, his mother Roma (Boyle), brother Scott Purcaro and his wife Linda, Richard Purcaro and his wife Kathleen, and nieces and nephews Megan, Joey, and Scotty Purcaro.
