Victoria González Melendez, born on November 7, 1945, in Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones Saturday, September 7, 2024. She was the cherished daughter of the late Tomasa Melendez Colon and Ramon González Martinez, and the third-born of 12 children. As a devoted mother, Victoria raised five children: Tomas Rodriguez, Madeline Rodriguez, Johnny Rodriguez, Ruth Rodriguez, and Enitzaida Rodriguez. In pursuit of a better life for her family, she courageously migrated to Hartford, Connecticut, as a single mother to her four young children. Over the course of 40 years, she lived in Connecticut and Massachusetts before returning to her beloved Puerto Rico, where she found solace in the island she always considered home. Victoria's life was defined by her unwavering commitment to her family. She dedicated herself fully to ensuring her children were always well cared for, always putting their needs first. Family was the cornerstone of Victoria's life, and she served them with love, generosity, and dedication. Her resourcefulness and kind spirit left a lasting impact on everyone she touched. In addition to being a loving mother, Victoria was passionate about gardening, sewing, crafting, and quilting. She loved learning new DIY projects, organizing, and doing puzzles. Victoria also found immense joy in vacationing with her family, always treasuring the moments spent together.

Victoria is survived by her two sons Tomas Rodriguez and Johnny Rodriguez, her two daughters Madeline Rodriguez, and Enitzaida Rodriguez, her seventeen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, her four sisters Angela Gonzalez, Judith Gonzalez, Magda Gonzalez and Adela Gonzalez. Victoria was predeceased by her daughter Ruth Delia Rodriguez, her five brothers Ramon Gonzalez, William Gonzalez, Reynaldo Gonzalez, Geraldo Gonzalez and Alberto Gonzalez and her two sisters Elba Gonzalez and Maria Gonzalez. Her family and friends will forever hold her memory dear, honoring her legacy of love, care, and devotion. Victoria's presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on in the lives of those she touched.

Funeral service for Victoria will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 12pm. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
