William James Condon, 96 of Hartford, son of the late John F. Condon and Katherine (Maloy) Condon, passed away April 17, 2021 at home with family at his side. He was the widower of Mary (Crowley) Condon who passed away in 1983. A graduate of Hartford Public High School and the University of Connecticut, William served in World War II in Europe with the United States Army 296 ^th Engineer Combat Battalion Company C. He was a retired employee of the State of Connecticut Department of Income Maintenance and previously Prudential Insurance.

He is survived by his children, Peter Condon of West Hartford, Katherine Messier (Kenneth) of Simsbury, Eileen Curtis (Brian) of Durham and Elizabeth Condon of Hartford. He also leaves five grandchildren, Lisa Messier Wilcox, William Curtis (Sarah), Michael Messier, Thomas Curtis (Kayla), Erin McKern (Callum), five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers John and Paul.

Bill was an avid reader and knew a lot about everything. He could fix anything and repaired everything. He enjoyed collecting and had many "treasures". He also leaves 2 cats that he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
